Corrections
Last updated: 2026-07-31
If you represent a brand, manufacturer, seller, or retailer and believe a score we display about your product or company is wrong, this page is for you. This is our dedicated review path — separate from the general "Contest this finding" flow available to every user — with a published service-level commitment and a public log of resolutions.
Our commitments
- Acknowledgment within one business day. You get a real reply from a human on the team, not an autoresponder, confirming we received the request and giving you a ticket number.
- First-party brand review resolved within five business days. "First party" means the request comes from the brand itself (or an authorized representative), not a third party. We'll investigate every good-faith request. Where we agree the score should change, we'll update it and describe what we changed. Where we disagree, we'll explain why in writing so you can decide whether to escalate.
- Every correction is logged. We keep an internal, dated record of what was reviewed, what changed, and the evidence relied on. If we ever need to demonstrate our correction discipline — to a regulator, a court, a reporter — the record is there.
- Corrections are free. No fee to request review. No paid "priority" queue. No paid "verified" badge. Ever.
How to submit a correction request
Email corrections@realproductorigin.com with the following:
- Product URL(s) on the retailer where the score appears (e.g. amazon.com/dp/…, target.com/p/…). Multiple URLs are fine if the issue applies to a product family.
- Which indicator you believe is wrong: Made in, Ships from, Retailer, or Money goes to. You may list more than one.
- What the correct answer is, in your view, and why.
- Your name, role, and organization, plus how you're authorized to represent the brand or company at issue (e.g. "Trademark Counsel, ACME Inc." — a signed authorization letter is helpful for third-party representatives).
- Documentary evidence supporting your position — see the next section.
What evidence helps
None of the following is required for us to look, but each of them meaningfully shortens the review time and increases the odds we can update the score without a back-and-forth.
- Country of origin. Manufacturing invoice, factory audit, customs declaration, or an authoritative product-page spec sheet from the brand's own site.
- Corporate ownership / beneficial ownership. Certificate of incorporation, a signed org chart from the parent, a filed 10-K (for public parents), or the equivalent registry filing in your jurisdiction.
- Retailer of record. A screenshot or export from the retailer's seller-central account showing the seller-of-record entity and its country of registration.
- Trademark ownership. The registration record on USPTO TSDR (for US), EUIPO eSearch (for the EU), or the equivalent office in your jurisdiction — including the recorded assignments, if applicable.
Screenshots are fine. Attachments up to 10 MB per email are fine; larger files can be shared by link (Dropbox / Drive / whatever).
What happens next
- Within one business day: we acknowledge receipt and give you a ticket number.
- Within five business days (for first-party brand requests with evidence attached): we send you the outcome — score updated (with the specific change described), score maintained (with the reasoning), or a follow-up question if we need more from you before we can decide.
- If we update, the change is reflected the next time the extension re-scores the product on that retailer. Existing users' cached scores refresh automatically within 24 hours.
- If we maintain, and you disagree with our reasoning, you may reply with additional evidence. We'll take one more pass. If we still disagree, we'll say so clearly and explain what you can do next — including that you may take formal legal action, without prejudice to either side, and that we will preserve the correspondence.
What this page is not
- Not a marketing channel. "Verified by Real Product Origin" is not a badge you can buy or license. Our "✓ Verified" mark on a score means a human on our team confirmed that specific score — nothing more, and it isn't transferable, sponsorable, or displayable on a brand's own site.
- Not a takedown request. If you're asking us to remove factual scoring output because you don't like it — as distinct from believing it's inaccurate — this page can't help. See Terms § 13.
- Not a substitute for the general contest flow. Individual shoppers who see a score they think is wrong can click "Contest this finding" on the badge itself. That path continues to work; it just doesn't come with the five-business-day SLA above.
Bad-faith submissions
We take good faith seriously. Repeated correction requests that misrepresent authority, submit forged documents, or attempt to abuse this process to obscure a product's origin will be logged, publicly summarized in aggregate in our methodology updates, and referred to counsel where warranted. This paragraph exists so that no one can later claim they didn't know.
